YCC Criterium - 15th December 2024

COURSE DETAILS

This month we have on offer criterium racing on the fast, smooth 840m circuit in the Yamba Industrial Park - Fairtrader dr. Under closed roads, riders can use the entire 20m wide hot mix surface to battle it out for points across the morning.

 

 

RACE FORMAT 

We have on offer A, B, C, D and E grade races for riders in OPEN ages plus we may have junior races if the demand is there. Juniors must refer to the AusCycling age categories and roll-out regulations before entering. 

 

The grades on offer should cater to all racing skill and ability levels.

 

We are running a double race format for OPENS with each grade racing twice with a break between races. 

A and B grades will race 2 x 25 minute + 2 lap races with a single prime for each race.

C, D and E grades will race 2 x 15 minute + 2 lap races with a single prime for each race 

 

Riders will score points for their placings in each race. These will be tallied to award an overall podium for each grade after both races are completed. Points will also be given to the rider who wins the prime lap for each race. The points are as follows:

 

1st place	10 points
2nd Place	7 points
3rd Place	5 points
4th Place	3 points
5th Place	1 point
PRIME - winner	5 points

Juniors (U15 and U17) riders may ride in open grades under the condition they race using their restricte

 

Juniors (U15 and U17) riders may ride in open grades under the condition they race using their restricted gears and do not exceed the maximum allowable distance for their age category unless they have received approval from the State Junior Coach. RACE ENTRY AND SIGN ON

To assist with grading, race entry is via this link only. ENTRIES CLOSE Saturday 14th of December at midday.

Sign on is located at the start/finish line from 7:00 am. You will find us under the big blue gazebo.

We will need to sight rider licences (electronic or hard copy) at sign on.

 

GRADING

Riders are to self-select their grade, but changes can be made before the start time by the club handicapper. All riders will be notified of their final grading at the pre-race briefing. 

 

PRIZES

Prize money for placings in grades A to E will be calculated from the total pool of entry fees collected plus race sponsorship. As per our road race season, we will be giving the same $$ to place getters in A to E grades. 

Prizes will be paid for each 1st place rider in the prime for each grade for each race. Prizes will be also given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each race and to the overall place-getters for each grade after both races are scored.

 

PARKING, TOILETS, ETC

Parking is located along Deering st before entry to the industrial park. Toilet facilities are located approx. 2kms away in multiple locations in the township of Yamba.

 

WARM UP

Riders are allowed to warm up on the course up until the pre-race briefing at 7:45 am. After this point, riders can only use the adjacent roads. All normal road rules apply.

 

ROAD CLOSURE

The criterium course will be closed to vehicle access from 7:30 am until after the final race is completed. During the road closure period, vehicles will only be allowed to access the area under the guidance of traffic control personnel. 

 

WHEN PURCHASING A TICKET, YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:

1. I understand, acknowledge and accept that cycling is an inherently dangerous sport, which may result in serious injury or death from a collision, fall, mechanical failure, physical exertion or other incident.

2. I voluntarily participate in this event at my own risk.

3. I waive any rights I may otherwise have against AusCycling, the event promoter and their agents and representatives relating to, and agree they are not responsible for, any loss or damage resulting from my participation in the event, including any loss that may arise from death or injury to myself or others, or damage to any property.

4. I agree to follow the directions of any event organiser or official and the AusCycling Technical Regulations, a copy of which is available on the AusCycling website.

5. If the participant in this event is under 18 years of age, I warrant that I am a parent or guardian of the participant and agree for myself and the participant that I provide the acknowledgements, agreements and waiver set out above in respect of the participant.
