YCC - Woodford Island Road Race - 27th April 2025

COURSE DETAILS

The YCC road race will be held at Woodford Island on a fast 42km out and back course from Maclean to Brushgrove and return. The race starts near the heritage listed McFarlane Bridge and follows the beautiful south arm of the Clarence River on flat roads before passing across a few short sharp hills in the middle section of the course. Riders will turn around at Brushgrove village and head back towards maclean with a short climb up red hill before a fast run to the finish line. This race suits the strong attacking rider or the sprinter who can handle short climbs. 

 

RACE FORMAT and CONDITIONS

The format will be OPEN GRADED SCRATCH, with A, B, C and D grade races on offer. This should cater for all levels of racing skill and ability. If entry numbers are low, we will change the format to GRADED HANDICAP.

The race is held on open roads with all normal road rules in effect. There is a lead and follow vehicle, as well as turn marshals along the course.

RACE ENTRY, GRADING AND SIGN ON

Riders with an AusCycling Race Members (All Disciplines), 4 week free trial or Day Race Membership are eligible to enter this race. For memberships see this link: auscycling.org.au/become-a-member

To help with managing the format and race grading, entry is via this link only. ENTRIES CLOSE AT 12PM ON SATURDAY 26th APRIL 2025. If you miss the deadline just message us and we can open up the online entry portal.

Riders are to self select their grade but changes can be made before the start time by the club handicapper. 

Sign on is located at the start/finish line from 6:30am. You will find us under the big blue gazebo. You will need to show us a valid race level licence.

PLACINGS

Placings will be awarded to the first three riders across the line in each race. If placed outside the top three, the top placed female rider will also be acknowledged at the post race presentation.   

PARKING, TOILETS, ETC

Parking is located at the start/finish line and toilet facilites are located approx 2km away at various locations in Maclean. Riders are asked to retain all their food wrappers during the race and dispose of them in the bins provided at the sign on table.

WARM UP

Riders are allowed to warm up on the course up until the pre-race briefing at 7:20am. After this point riders can only use the adjacent roads. All normal road rules apply.

WHEN PURCHASING A TICKET YOU AGREE TO THE FOLOWING:

1. I understand, acknowledge and accept that cycling is an inherently dangerous sport, which may result in serious injury or death from a collision, fall, mechanical failure, physical exertion or other incident.

2. I voluntarily participate in this event at my own risk.

3. I waive any rights I may otherwise have against AusCycling, the event promoter and their agents and representatives relating to, and agree they are not responsible for, any loss or damage resulting from my participation in the event, including any loss that may arise from death or injury to myself or others, or damage to any property.

4. I agree to follow the directions of any event organiser or official and the AusCycling Technical Regulations, a copy of which is available on the AusCycling website.

5. If the participant in this event is under 18 years of age, I warrant that I am a parent or guardian of the participant and agree for myself and the participant that I provide the acknowledgements, agreements and waiver set out above in respect of the participant
